About Me

Hi there, my name is Marie Nicol. I was born in 1961 and I am an only child. My parents did not bring me up in a christian home, but thankfully, my grandparents regularly took me to church with them from when I was about three years old. I stopped going to church at about 14 years old, living a rather wild life, with many boyfriends and parties. Thankfully, I didn't get into drugs or heavy drinking. I met someone when I was 17 and we got married when I was 20. About a year later, I was searching, thinking there must be more to life. I was feeling a 'deep hole' in my life even though I was "happy". I eventually went and talked to the pastor at the Baptist church I grew up in and gave my heart to the Lord. My husband didn't mind, but a year later, he left me for a young girl, not wanting the responsibility of being a husband and father (we had a 3 month old baby son by then). Only having the Lord with me, he got me through this painful time - all my dreams had been destroyed. But I got through this time in peace and felt so safe in God's arms. A month later, I joined a christian penfriend club and wrote to a few guys, just wanting a friend for the odd night out and there I met a wonderful man named John.

We went out for two years and then married and now we have three more children. Two months after we married, my mom died which left a big gab in my life, we were extremely close; but you just have to get on with life. John and I have now been married for 16 years. We have been going to a penticostal church for the last 7 years. I have done childcare in my home for a job for about 7 years, then I was a teacher's aide for nearly 2 years and now I am in a brand new job - as a caregiver in a home for the elderly. It is challenging, exhausting but also an amazing experience with adorable older people with many stories to tell. I have also been a rape crisis worker for 7 years. I worked along side with the police and doctor, but my role was solely as a support person for the victim. I am very compassionate person and always feel people's pain with them, I feel a great burden to support people that are hurting.

My favorite things to do is READ!!!!!! (I love the word of God too), to sit beside or walk near water, be amongst nature, do cross-stitch, knitting and sometimes crafts. I love to shop for clothes or books, go out for coffee with friends and I love to meet new friends online and talk about Jesus together.

My Favorite Bible Verses: Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the plans I have for you" declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart." Hebrews 13:5 God has said "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
